Tilling the soil is the first step to getting the ground ready for planting. And boy, do we have a lot of soil to till this year! Last year around this time, we removed an epic maple tree in order to expand the planting. The hole that was left behind already swallowed up about 20 yards of organic compost. Rain is a welcome gift when the crops are all planted but excess rain makes finishing all the ground prep work very challenging. This week, we will finish tilling and begin laying plastic row covers...as long as Mother Nature complies. Fingers crossed!!
