Ain't no stress, like a farmer's stress!

To say the last few weeks have been a nail biting weather cluster, would be an understatement! All the rain we've had this Spring has made pre-season planning and prep for the planting very challenging. It would be a natural assumption to think rain=good growing conditions. But, the old saying runs true, too much of a good thing can actually turn out to NOT be a good thing! Wet soil not only makes tilling the field a challenge, it also is not a fave for baby plants and seeds. Here's a quick test for all you at-home farmers: grab a handful of soil and ball it up in your hand. Toss it in the air. If it gently breaks apart as it falls, start your planting! If it falls like a lead ball through the air, go drink some wine!
